A romantic musical about the narrow window of history from 1817-1820 in the life of the legendary Jean Laffite.
Our hero from the Battle of New Orleans has fallen from grace in the opinions of the local gentry of New Orleans and is forced to find a new location for his band of privateers.
Accused of piracy, he is devastated after all he had done in the Battle of New Orleans, and now to be called a "Pirate and a Thief."
He also continues to mourn the loss of the love of his life, Christina.
Thus, Lafitte and his men decide to relocate to a sandbar off the coast of Texas, known as Galveston Island; this becomes their headquaters for about three years.
Finally, however, the U.S. Government orders our unsung hero off of Galveston Island. The once "Terror of the Gulf" sets fire to his home, la Maison Rouge, and sails off into the pages of history -- the last great Pirate to become a Legend.
